Another attempt by President Biden to control gun violence

President Biden and Attorney General Merck Garland on Monday discussed with a number of key municipal and law enforcement officials a key US issue, rising gun-related crime.

In the opinion of many organizations, the current year 2021 may be the deadliest year for the United States in the last two decades.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, more than 10,700 people have been killed so far this year in shootings, some of which were accidental, while most involved murder, robbery and The mob was targeted and shot. Such incidents occurred in shopping malls and other crowded places.

President Biden has called gun violence an epidemic in the United States and a source of embarrassment around the world, but he still seems helpless in resolving the issue.

In April this year, after 10 people were killed in an indiscriminate shooting at a grocery store in the town of Builder, Colorado, President Biden told the Senate that he would pass two laws passed by the Democratic-majority House on gun violence. Approve drafts. At the same time, they imposed some strict arms restrictions under an administrative order.

The politically divided Senate, which has 50 members from both parties, has yet to approve the bill, and it is unclear whether all 50 Democrats will support the bill. The bill also requires a decisive vote of Vice President Kamala Harris, along with 50 Democrats.

In the United States, conservative Republican lawmakers oppose stricter gun laws, while moderate Democrats support new arms sales.

Biden and Attorney General Garland spoke with Washington Mayor Muriel Boyzer, San Jose, California's Sam Lecardo and New York's prospective mayor, Eric Adams, and the police chiefs of the four cities.

The Brady Campaign for Gun Violence says that an average of 316 people are shot every day in the United States, of which 116 die and 210 are saved. The group says 39 of the deaths were homicides and 64 were suicides.
