U.S. Navy has rejected Chinese claims that U.S. Navy was forced to withdraw from South China Sea

The U.S. Navy has rejected Chinese claims that U.S. Navy was forced to withdraw from the disputed Parcel Island in the South China Sea on Monday.

The navy says the devastating USS Ben fold fleet passed close to the small island, east of southern China and Vietnam, on a mission to ensure freedom of navigation.

The navy said in a statement that the operation was aimed at challenging illegal travel restrictions imposed by China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

The three countries claim ownership of the islands, and try to force all military ships passing through to obtain prior permission, which the United States denied on Monday.

The navy added that it would continue to carry out such operations until some countries give up trying to assert their right to the waterway.

The U.S. Navy says such claims in the waters of the South China Sea pose a serious threat to free sea travel, including claims about shipping, airspace, free trade and unrestricted trade.

The statement said that no member of the international community has the right to intimidate or deprive anyone of their rights and freedoms.

According to a Reuters report, Chinese officials on Monday called it "provocative" and urged the United States to stop such action.
